California Institute for Biodiversity

California Institute for Biodiversity LogoThe California Institute for Biodiversity (CIB) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to improving science literacy throughout the state through multimedia tools and hands-on experiences. Since its inception by executive director Carol J. Baird, PhD, in 1995, CIB has helped thousands of teachers introduce their students to important science concepts through explorations of California's diverse landscapes. In 1998 CIB completed Cal Alive!---Exploring Biodiversity, a curriculum on three CD-ROMs that teaches students about habitats, ecology, geology, climate, and human relationships with nature in California. CIB provides professional development for California educators, with an emphasis on both classroom learning and field investigation.
