Professional Development

Multi-day workshops prepare teachers to use field experiences in California State Parks as part of a hands-on science education curriculum. Participants also learn to effectively incorporate Coast Alive! multimedia and Teacher Guides into the classroom.

In-depth institutes will offer similar field experience along with intensive training to strengthen teachers' skills in science, pedagogy, and leadership--all important components of improving teaching and science literacy.

Both workshops and institutes make it possible for teachers to bring their students out to the incredible California parks. Participating teachers are often eligible for transportation scholarships to get their students out to the field to do science!
