Coast Alive! Earth Wind Fire Water Teacher Institute
Update as of 1/15/2008:
Due to staffing and scheduling constraints, we are postponing our summer 2008 institute in Southern California until summer 2009. We plan to hold this institute at the Cabrillo Aquarium. Please email or call us if you have any questions: roger@calalive.org or 1-888-325-3288
But, if you wish to attend a professional development institute in 2008, please consider our institutes this summer in the San Francisco East Bay and the Sierra Nevada near Yosemite.
Teacher Institute in Southern California, Summer 2009
Like all of our institutes, this Southern California institute will focus on doing science whether in the classroom or out in the field through the use of interactive multimedia, hands-on activities, and inquiry based field studies. There will be special emphasis placed on Southern California coastal ecology and the themes of earth, wind, fire, and water. We will explore local phenomena such as the Santa Ana winds in relation to climate and fire ecology. Through experimental design, participants will learn strong methods for introducing or enhancing the use of the scientific method in their classrooms.
